How not paying for an item on ebay is gonna affect me?
I bid on a GPS but I have changed my mind. I was using the ebay and got emotional, didn’t understand at that time and bid. Now I am the high bidder and afraid if I win tomorrow when the bid ends, what will happen if don’t buy the item. Ebay website says that they are gonna put something like unpaid item on my paypal account (that also I opened recently and have 0 balance so far). Is that gonna affect my credit score? Is the ebay gonna file a case in court against me, and will I have to hire an attorney for that? Or it will go in the Police hands and they are gonna come and knock my door? Please reply. I am scared. I have a excellent credit score (trying as hard as possible to keep it up) and by profession a doctor (soon to enter into practice in US). I don’t want anything big on my record (SSN etc.) but also don’t wanna buy that GPS also if its possible to escape with no trouble. Don’t think I am a bad guy, I did a mistake and won’t do it again.

Your credit score won’t be affected and you won’t have any legal problems if you communicate with the seller and back out of the deal before he ships.
HOWEVER: the ebay community looks down on this sort of behavior in the worst kind of way. You’ll be blacklisted (sellers can block you from bidding on their items, and word spreads fast). People there expect you do to your research and be sure BEFORE you bid. If you ever want to purchase items in ebay again, just cut your losses and buy the item.
